Appleby-in-Westmoreland

Appleby is a lovely market town with a good range of shops for every day needs and gifts. Aside from those mentioned above, we love to visit Blue Poppy, the Courtyard Gallery and Jak & Co. There is also a good Indian Restaurant, Ashiana for eat in or take away.

Appleby has a railway station which is on the Settle-Carlisle line where you can often see the steam trains that still use that line.

Penrith

Penrith is the nearest major town with a large selection of both multiple and local retailers. There are two large supermarkets, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons and Cranstons Cumbrian Food Hall for locally produced goods. There are number of shops selling supplies for the great outdoors including a large Go Outdoors store.
